Shattered Moral Injury Training is sparking an awakening inside the very systems that have silenced compassion. These are the voices speaking out.
When we created the Shattered Moral Injury Training, we knew it would be confronting. We also knew it was necessary.
What we didn’t expect was the wave of deeply personal, raw, and courageous responses from those who work inside these systems every day, rehabilitation providers, clinicians, lawyers, and case managers who have carried the weight of systemic harm on their shoulders, often in silence.
Below are just a few of the reflections we’ve received. If you’ve ever wondered whether moral injury is real or if this training truly makes a difference read on.
“I didn’t burn out—I was morally injured by the system I worked in.”
“Shattered Moral Injury Training gave language and form to a layer of distress I have carried but could never articulate.Watching this documentary was like holding a mirror to the work I’ve done for decades highlighting the deep systemic issues that don’t just harm injured workers, but leave clinicians like me feeling morally compromised, professionally disillusioned, and emotionally exhausted.Every story triggered memories of moments where I swallowed my own distress to keep going. And the snowball of those memories made one thing very clear:It’s not us. It’s the system.I strongly recommend that every person entering the return-to-work space, clinicians, insurers, lawyers, regulators, watch this as part of their onboarding or CPD. This is an excellent use of our mandatory professional development.”- Jo Muirhead, Rehabilitation Counsellor | Supervisor | Host of The Entrepreneurial Clinician Podcast
“To the lawyers in this system - drop the ego.”
“Every person who is involved in the workers compensation system, from lawmakers to case managers and lawyers, NEEDS to watch this training.Far too often, professional development is reduced to ticking a box. But this, this is critical.Let’s stop pretending the NSW Workers Compensation scheme is helping. It’s not. Those who don’t see it are either uneducated or in denial. To lawyers in particular, I was one of you. Ask yourself: are you really upholding the oath you took? Or have you crossed the line?Law used to be a proud profession based on justice. Right now, in personal injury law, it feels more like who can play the dirtiest game for the longest time. It’s time to course correct. Watch this training. Wake up. Do better.”- Sharni Sinclair, Criminal Lawyer / Injured Worker
“In 35 years, this is the worst story I’ve heard.”
“There has been enough national press about the disaster that is the NSW SIRA/iCare system. But it is only through the dramatisation of Kathie’s story that we truly begin to understand the cost of political polarisation and self-interest. These forces have shattered a system that was meant to support injured workers, and destroyed countless lives in the process.I’ve worked in four different workers compensation jurisdictions over 35 years. And I can say without hesitation:Kathie’s story is the most appalling of all. This training is essential.”- Heather Budd, Return To Work Coordinator
Moral Injury Is the Conversation We Can No Longer Avoid
These are not outliers. These are respected professionals speaking from the heart about what they've seen and what they've survived.
This training isn’t just about education. It’s about liberation. It gives language to the pain, and tools to navigate it.It reminds us that we are not broken the systems are.
Final Word:
“With all the focus on psychological safety and psychosocial hazards, have we forgotten that each of us must make daily practices to care for our own minds, bodies, and souls? Humanity is depending upon us to lead with heart.”- Kathie Melocco, Shattered Moral Injury Training
