Dr. Nandi Spry and Indigenous Contemporary Health And Wellbeing

Coming up on In The Spirit of Things we meet Dr Nandi Spry. We talk the intersection of cultures and what diversity really looks like. Growing up in Zambia before spending her teenage years in Katherine, NT. Nandi explains what it means to belong.


Dr Nandi Spry was born in Zambia and has a mixed-race African Australian background. Nandi has been a part of developing mentor style development programs which were endorsed and accredited for 17 years.


Nandi has also taught Communication & Diversity, Health & Society, as well as Indigenous Contemporary Health and Well-Being.


Nandi has also founded, Ubile, which in her Lozi language means to “Become”. The essence of Ubile stands for power, practicality, ambition, success, inspiration and discipline. Ubile also means to change the world for the better.


The focus of Ubile is to help organisations understand its time to capitalise on cultural diversity.


Using a strengths-based approach, the following have been identified as effective:


1. Ubile competency framework

2. Ubile workshops targeted to the HR, Marketing Team and Line Managers

3. Ubile culturally safe communication


Ubile’s mission is to also help understand the importance of diverse teams having a sense of belonging, fairness and respect to improve health conditions, creating opportunities for clarity of understanding and open pathways into confidence towards productivity and inspiration.


Ubile, in partnership, works with organisations across a broad range of contexts including Government, Not for Profits and Non-Government Organisations.
