Ahmed Kilani and Prison Chaplaincy




Coming up on In The Spirit of Things for November we talk with Ahmed Kilani. Since 2015 he has been working full time as a Muslim Prison Chaplain with Corrective Services NSW. This involves providing spiritual and pastoral care, and religious guidance to Muslim inmates in jails throughout NSW, including Goulburn's High Risk Management Unit, also known as Supermax.


Ahmed is a respected advisor to state and federal government agencies, academics, policy advisors and the community leaders.


He specialises in working in the area of Countering Violent Extremism.


Ahmed Kilani has been involved in grassroots community work for over 20 years. This has involved working in the charity, education and youth sectors of the Australian Muslim community and greater Australian society.


In 2001 he co-founded and is still the Managing Editor of MuslimVillage, an online news and lifestyle portal that reaches millions of readers from all around the globe annually.


He is also an accredited Disaster Relief Chaplain.
